What really motivates employees?
The days when a good salary alone was enough to retain people in a company in the long term are over. Today, more matters: good teamwork, honest communication, real prospects, and the feeling of being seen.
The current study “Recruiting Trends 2025” by Personalwirtschaft clearly shows what is important to employees today. Around 800 specialists and managers were surveyed.
The working atmosphere ranks first. 76.8% of participants cited it as the most important factor for motivation and identification. A positive working environment in which trust, collegiality, and openness are practiced is more important to many than any benefit.
This is followed closely by basic remuneration. 75.5% expect fair pay as the basis for a motivating employment relationship. This is a particularly strong signal in the temporary employment sector: those who are on assignment do not want to feel that they are only temporary or secondary.
Prospects for permanent employment are also an important issue. 59.5% of respondents say that a realistic prospect of permanent employment within the framework of a temporary employment relationship greatly increases their motivation. Temporary work is thus perceived not as a temporary solution, but as a stepping stone to something permanent.
These results confirm what we experience every day at the AlphaConsult Group. People don’t just want a job—they want prospects.
What is particularly important to us in our work:
- We create clear prospects for the future – even in temporary work. From the very first interview, we talk openly about opportunities for permanent employment and career development.
- We believe in honest, open communication. Only those who feel listened to remain motivated and engaged.
- We promote a working environment in which trust and team spirit count. Because motivation grows where people feel comfortable and are recognized.
- We accompany our employees on their individual paths – with many successful permanent positions, e.g., in the medical field at Alpha-Med, in engineering at Alpha-Engineering, or in skilled trades at AlphaConsult and AlphaConsult-Premium.
The study clearly shows that motivation does not come from superficial measures. It arises where employees feel taken seriously and feel part of a whole.
And that is exactly what we support!
